Xavier Project wins 2019 UNHCR Innovation NGO Award at Global Refugee Conference

We were delighted to be awarded the UNHCR Innovation Award in Geneva this December in acknowledgement of our work with refugee community-led organisations across East Africa.

We are SO proud to have been selected from 266 projects across 59 countries as one of three recipients of this year’s UNHCR Innovation NGO Award. This award honours our commitment to leverage and will strengthen and enthuse our refugee-led community partners in East Africa.

The award follows the success of our Capacity-Building Training, which members of our team have been facilitating to our community based organisations (CBOs) in urban areas and rural settlements. The course, designed by Xavier Project, aims to strengthen the skills of the leaders of the CBOs in order for them to grow their work within their communities and develop their own financial sustainability model.

The course has been a great success and there have been significant and encouraging developments in the CBOs we partner with. We were honoured to have been presented the award by Filippo Grandi at a special ceremony in Geneva, before representing our community partners at the Global Refugee Forum.
