L’Afrikana is a registered refugee-run community-based organisation based in Nairobi, Kenya whose aim is to empower fellow refugees and the local hosting community. Their philosophy is that the more the refugees are involved in finding solutions to the challenges they encounter the greater the impact of such services to the community.

L’Afrikana seek to be a channel of transformation through which refugees can play an active role in delivering support to the  challenges their community face and eventually contribute to the welfare, social and economic development of their host nation, Kenya. Their daily activities such as art and craft, clothes design, community outreach sessions, and ICT classes are geared toward making that conviction a reality.

At L’Afrikana, Refugees use their skills, talents, knowledge and abilities to help themselves and change lives in the community. Their approach is simple: they simply use what they have to transform people’s lives!
