Short-term Consultancy: Advanced ICT Skills Development Training and Mentorship

We're looking to recruit a Consultant at our office in Kakuma to train and mentor youths in advanced ICT skills.

Objective of Consultancy 

The core objectives of this consultancy are twofold:

  1. To train participants in market-driven Advanced ICT skills
  2. To support and mentor the participants to participate actively in online business process outsourcing and freelancing opportunities.

Scope and Key Deliverables

The consultant will be expected to deliver the two broad areas above and in accordance with specific and tangible deliverables. 

Methodology of undertaking the assignment

Through expertise knowledge, the consultant may among other methodologies engage their own contractors as per the demands of the project and as agreed upon with the Client. The consultant will work for 5 days a week and for 8 hours a day (1 hour for lunch). During this time, the consultant will split his time between the training and mentorship of the participants and the CBO management teams. This will be finalised in the final work plan and coincide with the monthly report and timesheet. 

Time frame

It is envisaged that the consultancy will require a total of approximately six months from the 1st of April 2021. However, this is period may subject to change depending on the scheduled activities, available resources and upon thorough consultation with the Xavier Project leadership team. All key deliverables must be achieved each month and proof of actions achieved submitted in order to remit the monthly compensation.

Remuneration and Field Visits

The consultant will be compensated a monthly remuneration of KES 60,000. ON the 22nd of every month, s/he will be expected to submit a monthly project report, timesheet and invoice to Xavier Project.

During the month, the consultant will be expected to spend at least two weeks in Kakuma, during which Xavier Project will provide per diem and cater for all transport-related to project activities as per the field visit policy.

Logistics

All the logistical costs related to the assignment will be met by the consultant except for field visits as described in 6.0 above.

Reporting

The consultant will work closely with a Leadership team member and the Kakuma Programme Lead for guidance and support. The Kakuma team will also support in order to align this consultancy and project to the desired outcomes.

The consultant will be expected to continually update the team above continually as per the timelines or on a request basis through monthly reports and timesheets allocating the time spent on the project.

Administration and Coordination

Xavier Project designates the Kakuma Programme Lead as Administrator and Coordinator of Activities; the Coordinator shall be responsible for the coordination of activities under the ToRs, for receiving and approving timesheets, requests and accountabilities as well as for the acceptance of deliverables by the Consultant.

  • Monthly Reports and Timesheets.

During the course of their work under these ToRs, including fieldwork, the Consultant providing services under these ToRs will be required to complete monthly project reports and timesheets to be submitted by the 22nd of every month that will detail outcomes achieved as well as expenses incurred.

  • Finance and Accountability

The Consultant shall keep accurate and systematic records and accounts in respect of the Services which will clearly identify all charges and expenses. All activities that accompany a financial transaction must be pre-approved by a Leadership Team Member. Xavier Project reserves the right to audit or to nominate a reputable accounting firm to audit the Consultant’s records relating to amounts claimed under this ToRs during its term and any extension and for a period of three months thereafter.

Performance Standards

The Consultant undertakes to perform the Services with the highest standards of professional and ethical competence and integrity.  The Consultant will be made aware of all policies and information held by Xavier Project related to safeguarding, child protection, field visits, fraud, whistleblowing, SGBV and will be expected to abide by all policies including the code of conduct. The Consultant shall be held accountable for any misconduct that is against any of these policies.

Confidentiality

The Consultant shall not, during the term of this ToRs and within five years after its expiration, disclose any proprietary or confidential information relating to the Services, this ToRs or the Client’s business or operations without the prior written consent of the Client.

Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of these ToRs which cannot be amicably settled between the parties shall be referred to a third party agreed upon by both parties for arbitration and final decision to be determined by the third party.
